Venue | The Big Top, Luna Park Sydney
Date | Friday 7 February 2014
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards are the tourism industry’s premier awards program and most anticipated event of the year. Celebrating the highest achievements of both the industry and Australian businesses, the awards are recognised as a mark of excellence in Australian tourism. With 900 guests attending the 29th Australian Tourism Awards, winners from 28 categories covering the many sectors of Australia’s diverse tourism industry were to be announced.
Luna Park Venues sought to put on a night that not only met and exceeded the client brief, but provided guests with an unforgettable iconic Sydney experience, worthy of the best in the Australian tourism industry. From the outset guests were entertained by Luna Park characters while being transferred by private ferry charter. Arriving at the iconic face, guests were escorted by stilt walkers for a photo opportunity of the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera House before arriving at the newly appointed Big Top. Combined with red carpet entry, outdoor spaces featuring boxed hedges and the recent installation of floor to ceiling draping in the Auditorium, new carpets and furniture the Big Top set the standard for the tourism industries night of nights.
Food & Beverage Experience
Our internationally trained chef, Mark Taylor created a delicious menu combining fresh Australian produce with premium regional wines. In keeping with the Luna Park sustainability program produce was sourced locally and regionally with the heroes being Clarence River prawns, Glenelg Black Angus beef and an array of individual desserts served on platters to finish.
Luna Park’s in-house supplier Microhire provided the creative staging, lighting and technical elements of this large-scale production. Tivoli steps onto the main stage and an array of theatrical lighting highlighted captivating performances by Jessica Mauboy and the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom Musical. The seamless delivery included all technical components; five widescreen large format projection screens, full High Definition signal distribution to 8K and 20K projectors, live and recorded switching of 4 x broadcast camera feeds with a total of 350 + vision transitions and 110 video files to playback. All aspects of this complex production combined to create a truly memorable experience for the audience and nominees.
Situated in a prime central Sydney location and on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour, Luna Park’s versatile venues are recognised as Sydney’s premier events precinct. Combined with one of the finest and most established in-house catering services in Sydney, an end to end event management solution and a portfolio of venues suitable for small to large scale events, Luna Park Venues look forward to assisting with your next event.
